How can i help at the children's home?

"These kids hold a joy that radiates and has touched my heart. I have loved watching their 'ah-ha' moments in the classroom and have been blessed to have taught them."
Dear Volunteer,

Thank you for your interest in working with our orphanage and projects here in Kazembe, Zambia.

We are sure you have plenty of questions so we hope this letter answers some of them.

Our main work is building and running an orphanage but aside from that we also give seminars within the community on a variety of topics—health awareness, Bible teaching, leadership skills, etc.

As you can see, there is something for everyone. In the orphanage work beside the obvious needs for volunteers to work with the children directly, there is also a need for construction work and agriculture and animal husbandry.

If you feel that our project is the place for you to work then we will have plenty for you to do.

We are a Christian organization and as such there are certain criteria we have to uphold both for the integrity of our projects but also for the well being of the children in our care.

If you plan to volunteer here, please send us an email telling more about yourself and the reason for your desire to volunteer.

After hearing back from you we will send you a package of information and ask you to send in the application form and also two reference letters from a pastor, teacher/professor, employer or parent.

We hope that this information will be a help to you. We look forward to meeting you in God’s time.

Thomas and Amy Morrow

You can volunteer for any length of time--anything from a few weeks to a long-term commitment.

We have many opportunities to physically get involved, whether you have a desire to work with the children, want to help with our farm, or lend a hand with our social media.

If you are interested in volunteering or getting more information,

Volunteer Positions

Special Needs, Preschool, and Elementary Teachers

We will always need help with our children's education. Our kids go through the PACE Education, which means the role involves grading tests and helping students who struggle to understand difficult concepts, especially our children with special educational needs.

In the preschool classroom, teachers work hands on with the preschoolers to teach them the core foundations required to graduate into elementary.

Medical Nurse

At Terra Nova Children's Home, we only have children from the ages of 13 and under. When we take in malnourished babies, face a bout of malaria, or a child sprains an ankle, we need a medical nurse at the ready to handle any situation that could arise.

Nanny/Au pair

Great role models are greatly appreciated! The kids love nannies who love and care for them well.

We love when volunteers come and build great relationships with our children and encourage them both to become people of good character and to pursue their big dreams.

And So Much More

All the possibilities of getting involved are endless. We welcome any skill you desire to bring.

Skills in social media, fundraising, grant writing, photography would be highly appreciated.

Past volunteers have painted murals, taught Karate, orphanage management, cooked great meals for the children, aided in construction of the new school building, and more.
